A Series of Totemic Objects, 2026

Graduating project from CSM BA Textile Design.

Beginning in the Berkshire woodland, the project began with windfallen logs. The shapes and forms of the forest were extracted through paperwork and organisations of found objects, influencing the wood’s form. Explorative, iterative process explored the potential of wood using surface patterning, natural dye, and woodworking. Combining these methods with the found form gave body to the totemic objects. The process considered the waste generated as the totems were made; new totems arose from the sawdust of previous totems. Product of ‘A Series of Totemic Objects’ is eight totems, a table, and an artist book, creating a body of work situated as conceptual product, with applications to furniture and set design.
